DISTANT EDUCATION: ONE-YEAR PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
The Distant Education in Carmelite Studies enables students to obtain a Diploma Certificate indicating they have completed focused study in Carmelite Spirituality. The program consists of 25 academic credits. This course consists of a comprehensive and more in-depth study of Carmelite spirituality from its beginning to contemporary time giving particular attention to mystical and contemplative dimensions.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- The certificate can serve as a credential of expertise in the Carmelite tradition.
- The program provides a unique qualification in Carmelite Studies to any student, without comprehensive examinations or thesis, requiring only course work.
- The program can deepen the formation of Carmelites and others in the Carmelite tradition
- The student will be able to draw upon this knowledge in addressing contemporary pastoral and social needs
ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT
- The certificate program is open to Non-degree students
- Since the medium of language is English an adequate knowledge of English is required
- No age limit
- Should be disposed to attend scheduled online sessions and regular reviews
- Instead of examinations you may write an assignment/assimilation paper for 2000-2250 words (3-5 pages) for each subject, except DCM 17 (Methodology) and DCM 09 (Spirituality & Mental Health) and it should be submitted to the office before the end of each semester
- A Comprehensive paper (20-30 pages) is to be written on any subject treated which should be submitted to the office towards the end of the course
- Target Group: Carmelite Friars, OCD Nuns, any Consecrated Men and Women, Lay Carmelites, and any layman/women interested in exploring the in-depth study of the Carmelite Spirituality
- In the case of religious nuns endorsement from the responsible authority (Superior/Major superior) is necessary
- The duration of the program is one year; September 2024- April 2025;
- The whole course is conducted over two semesters; the First Semester: September to December; the Second Semester: January to April
- Course fee Rs. 3000/- (abroad $ 100)
- The study materials will be published on the Institute's website and you will have access to it by visiting it using your login ID and password.
- The application form can be accessed online. Please fill out the application form downloaded from the Institute’s website (www.jyotirbhavan.in) it has to reach the Institute by 25 August 2024
